On Tuesday, 11 August, the Federal Court of Australia ordered WMG Football Club Ltd, ACN 631 204 003, the company behind Western United Football Club, to be wound up.

Jason Glenn Stone of PKF Melbourne was appointed liquidator, with ASIC publishing the appointment notice the same day.

The order came one day after the Australian Professional Leagues terminated Western United's Club Participation Agreement.

On Tuesday, Wyndham City also terminated its development agreement with Western Melbourne Group for the proposed Wyndham Stadium Precinct, saying a June default notice over failure to deliver the project and ongoing insolvency events had not been rectified. The council says it owns the precinct land, including Ironbark Fields.

Those are separate agreements involving different counterparties. Tuesday's Federal Court winding-up order applies specifically to WMG Football Club Ltd.

Five days earlier, another company carrying the WMG name entered a different process.

Manuel Hanna was appointed administrator of WMG Holdings Co on 6 August, with the notice published the following day. Proofs and proxies are due 17 August 2026, and the first meeting of creditors is scheduled for 18 August 2026.

A creditor watching only the Western United brand, or only the football company's ACN, could have missed that a second WMG company entered administration four days earlier.

A third similarly named company, WMG Stadium Pty Ltd, ACN 633 281 722, was the subject of a winding-up application brought by Urbis Ltd in August 2025 and listed for hearing on 17 September 2025. The current disposition of that application is not established here.

WMG Football Club Ltd and WMG Holdings Co Pty Ltd are separate legal entities. The Australian Financial Review reported in March 2025 that the two had common shareholders, while neither company owned the other. The Open Register has not established the ownership or control relationship of WMG Stadium Pty Ltd.

The five-day gap is only the latest part of the record. Both companies have faced creditor winding-up applications since March 2025.

20 March 2025: the tax office moves against both companies. The Deputy Commissioner of Taxation commenced separate winding-up applications against both. Both matters were in the Federal Court in Victoria, both were listed for 14 May 2025, and both were published on 29 April.

29 August 2025: the football company is wound up. The Federal Court ordered it wound up on the tax office's application, and the Australian Professional Leagues announced the liquidation that day. A stay was subsequently granted while the company challenged the outcome.

January 2026: the tax proceedings end. After mediation and settlement with the ATO, Western United announced on 9 January that the proceedings involving Western Melbourne Group and the football club had been dismissed. The 2025 order did not remain the company's final position.

27 April 2026: a different creditor applies. Dominance Enterprises Pty Ltd commenced another winding-up application against the football company, published 29 April.

27 May 2026: WMG Holdings faces another application. Sava Engineering Pty Ltd, in liquidation, commenced a winding-up application against it, published 25 June and listed for 8 July.

6 August 2026: WMG Holdings enters voluntary administration. Manuel Hanna was appointed administrator.

11 August 2026: the football company is wound up again. The Federal Court ordered it wound up and appointed Jason Glenn Stone liquidator.

Less than twelve months separate the two winding-up orders against it, with the first stayed and the earlier proceedings later dismissed following settlement.

Tuesday's ASIC notice records the winding-up order, the court, the date and the liquidator. It does not identify who applied for the order.

The later of the two published applications against it came from Dominance Enterprises rather than the tax office, but the register does not connect that application to Tuesday's order, and neither does this publication. Attributing the order to the ATO would carry forward the applicant from the August 2025 proceeding rather than anything established by Tuesday's notice.

Western United is the brand. WMG Football Club Ltd is the company the Federal Court wound up. WMG Holdings Co Pty Ltd is a different company, in voluntary administration, with its own administrator and deadlines. Western Melbourne Group is the name on the development agreement Wyndham City terminated.

For a supplier, contractor, employee or creditor, the name and ACN on the invoice decide which process applies, which practitioner they deal with and which dates they have to meet. Those distinctions disappear when the entities are collapsed into the single name "Western United".

What changed. WMG Football Club Ltd, the company behind Western United, was wound up by the Federal Court on 11 August. Five days earlier, WMG Holdings Co Pty Ltd entered voluntary administration. Both had previously faced creditor winding-up applications.

Who should care. Creditors of WMG Football Club Ltd or WMG Holdings Co Pty Ltd, and anyone whose contract or invoice names a WMG entity rather than simply the Western United brand.

What the record does not prove. Who applied for Tuesday's order; any ownership or control relationship between the WMG companies; the present disposition of the 2025 application against WMG Stadium; what any creditor will recover; or what follows for the club.

Volatility Pty Ltd, ACN 669 520 174, carries the registered business name InvestHouse. Volatility Financial Services Pty Ltd, ACN 615 714 442, carries Implied Volatility and was formerly OzPortfolio Pty Ltd and Reach Trading Pty Ltd. Both entered creditors' voluntary liquidation on 10 August with Rajiv Ghedia appointed liquidator, and both notices were published on 11 August. Five further registered companies carry the word Volatility and are not part of these appointments.

Harb Childcare Pty Limited as trustee for the Harb Family Trust, ACN 149 370 098, trading as Hilltop Childcare Centre, is respondent to a winding-up application by AGL Sales Pty Limited, listed in the Supreme Court for 2 September 2026. An application is not a finding of insolvency.

Permal Pty Ltd, ACN 664 124 814, which carries the registered business name Red Rooster Tamworth East, entered voluntary administration on 11 August with Steve Naidenov appointed. The appointment relates to Permal Pty Ltd, not to Red Rooster nationally.

At 10:30am on Wednesday, 19 August, the Supreme Court of Victoria is scheduled to hear eighteen winding-up applications published in today's notices. Branded Financial Services Pty Ltd, ACN 004 013 334, a vehicle and asset financier holding Australian credit licence 392188, is the applicant in seven of them, and filed all seven on 2 July. The other eleven answer to eleven different applicants. Individually the notices are routine; grouped by applicant and hearing, the concentration becomes visible.

The register carried 58 newly published distress entries. Companies carrying a former or trading name are listed first.
