ASIC published a voluntary administration on 25 August for Aboriginal Enterprises Australia (WA) Pty Ltd, ACN 645 118 163. The appointment was made on 24 August by the company's own directors under section 436A, and Greg Prout and Jimmy Trpcevski of WA Insolvency Solutions were appointed.

Forty-five days earlier, on 10 July, Aboriginal Enterprises Australia (NT) Pty Ltd, ACN 009 635 901, entered voluntary administration. Each appointment was made by that company's own directors under section 436A, and both appointments name the same two administrators.

A reader of the 25 August notice alone sees a Western Australian company entering administration. The Northern Territory company had already been in administration for six weeks.

The connection predates the current names. Before becoming Aboriginal Enterprises Australia, the two companies were registered as AUS PROJECTS NT PTY LTD and AUS PROJECTS WA PTY LTD.

That naming history does not by itself establish ownership between the companies. Aboriginal Enterprises Australia's own website does connect them: it describes systems used by "both our enterprises located in the Northern Territory and Western Australia", and lists offices in both jurisdictions.

One of these companies is much older than the other. The Northern Territory company was registered in June 1987. The Western Australian one was registered in October 2020, thirty-three years later.

So these are not two recently created companies entering administration together. One has been on the register for 39 years, and it went first.

A supplier with "Aboriginal Enterprises Australia (WA)" on its books sees the 25 August notice and learns its customer is in administration. It does not learn that the Northern Territory company connected to the same public-facing business had been in administration since 10 July.

The reverse is also true. Anyone monitoring only the Northern Territory company has had six weeks of notice about that entity and none at all about the Western Australian one, until now.

The problem is structural: the two companies are recorded under separate ACNs in separate jurisdictions, and each appointment is published against its own legal entity.

Two ACNs, two dates, one public-facing business. A check keyed to either ACN alone returns that entity's own process history, not the sequence across both.

The notices establish two appointments, 45 days apart, made by each company's own directors, with the same two administrators. They do not establish that either company owns, or is owned by, the other, and no corporate structure appears on either notice.

The shared former naming pattern is a register observation. It does not establish common ownership, common founders, or that the two companies were under common control when those names were adopted.

The notices say nothing about how many people worked at either company, what is owed, or what anyone will get back. A voluntary administration is not a liquidation, and the notices do not establish the eventual outcome of either administration.

Seven companies carrying the Great Northern name were among twelve to which provisional liquidators were appointed on 21 August, published on a single notice on 25 August. The Supreme Court of New South Wales appointed Vaughan Strawbridge and Kathryn Evans of FTI Consulting as joint provisional liquidators.

ASIC has published its own account of that proceeding, and the Court's reasons are public. The register adds two earlier events that are not identified in ASIC's release: a receiver and manager appointed to Great Northern Developments Pty Ltd in July 2019, and a separate winding-up application brought by the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation against Richmond Corporation Pty Ltd in June 2026.

MICRORENTALS PTY LTD, ACN 003 381 824, entered voluntary administration on 21 August, with Aaron Kevin Lucan appointed.

The company had entered restructuring under Part 5.3B on 16 February, with Shumit Banerjee appointed as restructuring practitioner. That is 186 days between the two appointments, and a different practitioner at each stage.

The register classifies the August notice as an existing matter that moved stage rather than a new distress entry, which is what it is.

The register carried 60 newly published distress entries. Companies whose legal name does not identify the business are listed first.
