Last September the administrator of Scott Pickett's holding companies put the boundary in writing: he was not appointed to any of the restaurant entities, and the restaurants would keep trading as usual. On 7 September 2026 six companies in the venue record around that group appointed the same administrator, including three that still carry the Matilda 159 Domain, Longrain Melbourne and Smith St Bistrot business names.

One notice, six companies, all appointed under section 436A. Under that section the board must resolve that, in the opinion of the directors voting for it, the company is insolvent or likely to become insolvent, and that an administrator should be appointed. The six are 159 MD Pty Ltd (ACN 647 935 859), 300 SB Pty Ltd (647 939 473), 44 LG Pty Ltd (641 582 210), 430 CL Pty Ltd (641 583 182), 48 Eastment Pty Ltd (642 537 175) and Rogue Traders Management Pty Ltd (641 767 795). Manuel Hanna of Romanis Cant is administrator of each.

Two other companies resolved to wind up with Hanna as liquidator on notices published the same day: Nord Arc Hospitality Group Services Pty Ltd (690 218 261) and MF Management Services Pty. Ltd. (133 691 059).

Administration is not liquidation and it is not closure. Longrain's own website was live on 7 September, taking reservations, naming Scott Pickett Group and giving the Little Bourke Street address.

And a company can hold a venue's registered name without trading there: the liquidators of the group's financier reported on 1 May 2026 that they had been advised "the assets of the subsidiaries of Rogue Traders are to be sold to an entity of which Mr Pickett will be a director".

So what changed on 7 September is the position of the companies holding these names, which is not the same fact as who serves you dinner.

The 7 September notices establish the insolvency status of the companies named in them. They do not, by themselves, establish which company currently operates each restaurant.

Search "Longrain" in a company register and you get nothing. 159 MD. 300 SB. 44 LG. 430 CL. 48 Eastment. Five legal names on the notice begin with a street number that another public record ties to a venue: 159 Domain Road, 300 Smith Street, 44 Little Bourke Street, 430 Little Collins Street and 48 Eastment Street.

Victoria's register of current liquor licences gives both the legal licensee and the premises attached to each licence. As at 30 April 2026, it resolves four of the six.

That closes a gap ASIC's records could not: 430 CL Pty Ltd holds no registered business name, so nothing there connects it to a restaurant. The licence does. The other two hold no licence: 159 MD holds the Matilda business name, and Rogue Traders Management was formerly Chancery Lane Management.

159 MD Pty Ltd holds the registered business name MATILDA 159 DOMAIN and entered administration on 7 September. The liquor licence for 157-159 Domain Road, South Yarra, trading as Matilda 159 Domain, is held by FEU 159 Pty Ltd, ACN 694 472 761, registered 19 January 2026, four weeks after the holding companies were wound up. FEU 159 is in no insolvency notice we hold, and no public record found records a transfer.

Two current records, one address, two companies. Matilda is also the one venue absent from the group's list.

ASIC published the first piece on 29 September 2025: SP Group Services Pty Ltd (641 655 905) and Rogue Traders Group Pty Ltd (641 570 167) had each appointed Manuel Hanna voluntary administrator on 25 September under that same section 436A, first meetings listed for 8 October.

Romanis Cant's own announcement is the second, and unusually explicit about scope: "Mr Hanna is not appointed to any of the restaurant entities", and the restaurants would "continue to trade as usual while the administration was on foot". The firm attributed the appointment to "the withdrawal of a key investor associated with the collapse of the First Guardian Master Fund", the only place that fund appears in this record.

The third is 23 December 2025, when both companies were deemed under section 446A(1)(a) to have resolved to wind up, with Hanna as liquidator.

In order: the holding and services companies went in, the perimeter expressly excluded the restaurants, they were wound up, a new company held the Matilda licence by January, the subsidiaries' assets were reported as going to a new entity in May.

On 7 September the name holders appointed the same administrator themselves. A statement about the scope of one appointment in 2025 says nothing about what a different company may resolve to do a year later, and nothing here suggests otherwise. The distance between those records is the finding.

The registered business name CHANCERY LANE does not sit on 430 CL Pty Ltd, the licensee. It sits on ABN 38 641 570 167, which is Rogue Traders Group Pty Ltd, in liquidation since 23 December 2025. So does the business name SCOTT PICKETT GROUP.

The premises are being sold. Marketing material for four strata lots at 430-436 Little Collins Street, offered by agents for a mortgagee in possession, names the tenant as Voie 430 Pty Ltd, ACN 693 759 590, trading as Chancery Lane Bistro, registered on 16 December 2025.

The liquidators of the group's financier supply the rest. Their 1 May 2026 report records 430 Little Collins Street as owned by Rogue Traders Group Property Pty Ltd, a related company, and the Commonwealth Bank as having "taken possession of these properties and appointed an agent for mortgagee in possession". That company is externally administered on the register and appears in no notice at all in our corpus, because receiver appointments do not travel through the notices feed. Notice monitoring alone would not have surfaced it.

One restaurant: a brand holder in liquidation, a property-owning company under receivers, a licensee in administration, and a separate tenant with no insolvency notice in our register.

Which entity bought the subsidiaries' assets is not stated in any record read. No public record found establishes an ownership, control or other corporate relationship between FEU 159 or Voie 430 and any of the six.

Whether 159 MD, 300 SB and 44 LG remained the contracting operators after that sale is not established: they hold the names, a different fact. The 7 September administrator's report has not been published. Nord Arc Hospitality Group Services was registered on 21 August 2025 and resolved to wind up on 7 September 2026; no primary record links it to the group. No public record found names any individual as an officer of these companies, and other venues on the group's list are licensed elsewhere.

Six companies, one notice, one administrator.

The notice names 44 LG. The awning says Longrain. In 2025 the boundary of this administration was stated in writing and the restaurant entities sat outside it; on 7 September six companies in that venue record appointed the same administrator. At two addresses the name and the licence sit on different companies, and at one the tenant is a third.
