Two scaffolding businesses have given the same Gold Coast address: 10 Hope Street, Nerang. Both have now entered a formal insolvency process, two years apart. Both times, ASIC's notice named the same practitioner.

In June 2024 it was Source Scaffolding Pty Ltd, ACN 102 376 107, which appointed David Michael Stimpson of SV Partners as its restructuring practitioner. On 24 September 2026 it was A A F Scaffolding Pty Ltd, ACN 066 819 270, acting as trustee for the Dry Hire Holdings Trust, which appointed Mr Stimpson and Abdul Chambal as administrators.

AAF Scaffolding's website gives 10 Hope Street as its address and opens its history with "Since 1974". Its page for the Hamilton Island Yacht Club project credits the work to Source Scaffolding.

So which scaffolder is in administration? One company: A A F Scaffolding Pty Ltd, in its capacity as trustee for the Dry Hire Holdings Trust. Source Scaffolding Pty Ltd is not in administration, and ASIC has published no notice about it since August 2024.

For anyone owed money by the scaffolders at Hope Street, that difference decides which process, if any, the debt belongs to.

The notice is only the first layer. The Daily Register connects legal entities, trusts, operating names, ACNs, practitioners and earlier filings, so an alert arrives already tied to the company behind it.

Source Scaffolding's restructuring, 2024

Source Scaffolding Pty Ltd has been registered since October 2002. At the start of 2025 its own website described "a well established distributor of scaffolding", in both the hire and sale of scaffolding products, with its "Nerang yard" at 10 Hope Street.

There was an earlier signal, in December 2023. The CFMEU had applied to the Fair Work Commission to approve an enterprise agreement covering Source. Source had signed the agreement and filed a declaration supporting the application, and 19 of its 20 eligible employees had voted, all in favour.

On 13 December 2023 Source emailed the Commission saying it wanted the application discontinued, without giving reasons. As the employer rather than the applicant, it had no power to discontinue it. At a hearing on 18 December, asked whether there was any legal basis for its objection, Source "cited financial difficulties as the reason behind its objection", the Commission's decision records, while conceding there was no legal barrier to approval. The Commission approved the agreement on 19 December, to operate from 26 December 2023. Six months later, Source was in small business restructuring.

Its 2024 restructuring left three ASIC notices:

  • 12 June 2024: Mr Stimpson appointed restructuring practitioner.

  • 11 July 2024: the proposal period extended to 23 July 2024, on the company's application.

  • 13 August 2024: Mr Stimpson appointed restructuring practitioner for a restructuring plan.

Small business restructuring leaves the directors in control while a plan is put to creditors, and the August notice is the one that follows a plan being made. No later notice records how the plan ended. The company remains registered, its GST registration is recorded as cancelled from 1 April 2024, and its website did not load on 30 September 2026.

A 1974 story, a 1994 company, a 2024 trust

AAF's website says: "Since 1974, AAF Scaffolding Pty Ltd has emerged as a premier scaffolding service provider in Queensland and New South Wales." It counts "over 50 years of experience".

The registers hold three different dates:

  • A A F Scaffolding Pty Ltd was registered in October 1994.

  • Its own ABN has been active since 2000, and has not been registered for GST since October 2009.

  • The Trustee for Dry Hire Holdings Trust, the trust named in the administration, has held an ABN since 19 January 2024, registered for GST from the same day.

None of those dates contradicts the website: a business can be older than the company that now runs it. But they are different things, and only one of them is in administration: the company, acting as trustee of a trust whose ABN dates from January 2024.

Source has the same shape. Beside the company sits the Trustee for Source Scaffolding Trust, which has held an ABN since October 2002 and is still active.

Hamilton Island, credited to Source

AAF's projects include the Hamilton Island Yacht Club. The page sits in AAF's own portfolio, but its account of the work names another company: "Source Scaffolding tackled the challenge by engineering a bespoke scaffolding solution". It closes by crediting "Source Scaffolding's expertise".

Q1, the Surfers Paradise tower, appears on both websites as well: as an AAF project, and in Source's archived list of projects it supplied.

That is how the business presents itself to customers. It does not establish how the two companies are related, whether any business, equipment, staff or the Hope Street tenancy moved from one to the other, or who owns the scaffold stock.

Which company a creditor is owed by

An invoice or contract from this address could carry the AAF name, the Source name or a trust. The administration covers A A F Scaffolding Pty Ltd in its capacity as trustee for the Dry Hire Holdings Trust. A debt owed by Source Scaffolding Pty Ltd is owed by a different company, which is not in administration.

The shared practitioner does not merge the two matters either. A creditor who dealt with Source's 2024 restructuring may recognise the name on the 2026 notice, but the two processes concern two companies.

For AAF's creditors, the notice sets the dates. The first meeting is held virtually at 10am AEST on 7 October, and creditors who want to attend are asked to lodge proofs and proxies with the administrators by 5pm AEST on 6 October. With Queensland's King's Birthday holiday on 5 October, the meeting falls on the eighth business day after the appointment, the last the Corporations Act allows for a first meeting.

What the record does not show

  • How Source Scaffolding's 2024 restructuring plan ended.

  • Whether any business, equipment, staff, contracts or the 10 Hope Street tenancy moved between the two companies.

  • Who owns either company, or the Dry Hire Holdings Trust.

  • What AAF owes, and to whom.

The website tells one story, from 1974. The register tells it in companies: Source Scaffolding into restructuring in 2024, then AAF, as trustee of a trust whose ABN dates from January 2024, into administration in 2026. A creditor's claim follows the legal entity that incurred the debt, not the story told by the brand.

The register in 60 seconds

ASIC published notices concerning 87 entities on the day, across 89 notices. 40 are newly published distress entries: a company entering an insolvent process, disclosed in this issue. The remaining 47 are:

  • 12 winding-up applications, which ask a court for an order and are not findings of insolvency

  • 26 procedural filings on cases already open: meetings, dividends, proof deadlines and disclaimers

  • 6 companies already inside a process that moved stage, such as an administration converting to liquidation

  • 3 members' voluntary liquidations, which are solvent and not failures at all

  • 0 vacancies filled, where the process continues with a new practitioner

Treating every entity on the day's register as a new distress event would report 87 where the resolved register supports 40 newly published distress entries.

Paradigm Biopharmaceuticals appoints administrators

Paradigm Biopharmaceuticals Limited (ACN 169 346 963), listed on the ASX since 2015, appointed Hayden White and Christopher Pattinson as voluntary administrators on 29 September, and ASIC published the notice the same day. The notice names one company and gives no first-meeting date, so the next dated step arrives in a later notice. Any other company in the group sits outside this appointment unless its own notice says otherwise.
