Search for Master Demolition Group Pty Ltd and you find a registered Victorian company with an active ABN and an active GST registration. It is not the company that appointed a liquidator on 30 September.
That company is ACN 646 645 481. ASIC's notice, published on 1 October, names it A.C.N. 646 645 481 Pty Ltd, formerly Master Demolition Group Pty Ltd. Its members resolved to wind it up on 30 September and appointed John Maxwell Morgan of BCR Advisory as liquidator. ASIC classifies it as a creditors' voluntary liquidation.
The Master Demolition Group name now belongs to a different company: ACN 700 503 493, registered on 20 July 2026.
For a supplier, plant hirer, subcontractor or credit team with "Master Demolition Group Pty Ltd" in its records, those nine digits now decide whether the counterparty is the company in liquidation or the one holding the name.
Get the Daily Register
A name in a ledger is only as good as the number behind it. The Daily Register resolves every notice to its ACN, current name, former names and business names, so an alert points at the company actually affected.
The name moved in July
ACN 646 645 481 was registered in December 2020. ASIC's company dataset for 7 July 2026 still listed it as Master Demolition Group Pty Ltd.
By the dataset of 21 July it had become A.C.N. 646 645 481 Pty Ltd, with Master Demolition Group Pty Ltd recorded as a former name.
In between, on 20 July, ACN 700 503 493 was registered as Master Demolition Group Pty Ltd. The Corporations Act does not let a company register a name that another company already holds, so the old company had given the name up by then. The new company's ABN and its GST registration both start on 20 July.
On 30 September, 72 days after the new company was registered, the old company's members put it into liquidation.
The 20 July test
There is one period where the answer is simple. Paperwork dated before 20 July that names Master Demolition Group Pty Ltd cannot refer to ACN 700 503 493: that company did not yet exist. On 7 July, ASIC's company data still listed the name against ACN 646 645 481.
After 20 July the name is not enough, and neither is a status check. In the Australian Business Register's September extract, taken before the liquidation, both companies had an active ABN and an active GST registration, both in postcode 3047. The number on the invoice, contract or credit application is what separates them:
ACN 646 645 481 or ABN 86 646 645 481: the company in liquidation, which held the Master Demolition Group name until July.
ACN 700 503 493 or ABN 80 700 503 493: the company registered under the name on 20 July, which is not in liquidation.
What the record does not show
A shared postcode is not a shared address. The register does not show who owns or directs either company, whether they share premises, why the name changed, or whether any business, equipment, staff, customers or contracts moved between them.
The notice does not say Master Demolition Group is in liquidation. It says A.C.N. 646 645 481, formerly Master Demolition Group. Names can move between companies, ACNs cannot, and a creditor's claim follows the legal entity that incurred the debt.

The register in 60 seconds
ASIC published notices concerning 115 entities on the day, across 114 notices. 45 are newly published distress entries: a company entering an insolvent process, disclosed in this issue. The remaining 70 are:
18 winding-up applications, which ask a court for an order and are not findings of insolvency
33 procedural filings on cases already open: meetings, dividends, proof deadlines and disclaimers
12 companies already inside a process that moved stage, such as an administration converting to liquidation
7 members' voluntary liquidations, which are solvent and not failures at all
0 vacancies filled, where the process continues with a new practitioner
Treating every entity on the day's register as a new distress event would report 115 where the resolved register supports 45 newly published distress entries.
