The brand did not disappear. The company name did.
On 9 September, ASIC published a winding-up application brought by the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation against A.C.N. 129 296 475 Pty Ltd, ACN 129 296 475. It was filed in the Federal Court in New South Wales on 14 August, action NSD1480/2026, with a hearing listed for 9:30am on 23 September.
A winding-up application is only an application. It is not a finding of insolvency, and the company has not been wound up.
But identifying the company behind it is harder than it should be.
Search ASIC and the company is a number. Search the Australian Business Register and its best-known Raine & Horne business name now belongs to another company. Search NSW Fair Trading's property register and the same ACN is still called Anstee Real Estate Pty Ltd, still licensed until March 2027, and still recorded as trading as Raine & Horne Southern Highlands.
Three government registers. Three answers. All current.
Money at stake with a Raine & Horne business in the Southern Highlands?
Owed a commission, rent, an invoice or a trust distribution?
Paid a deposit or a fee to an agency under one of these names?
Three companies hold Raine & Horne names in this district. Establish which one appears on your contract, invoice or receipt before taking any recovery step.
The company used to have a name
ACN 129 296 475 was registered in January 2008 as Bowral Raine and Horne Pty Ltd. A month later it became Anstee Real Estate Pty Ltd. It kept that name for eighteen years.
Then, on 3 April 2026, it changed its registered company name to A.C.N. 129 296 475 Pty Ltd. That is the company's ACN followed by Pty Ltd.
The company did not cease to exist. Its ACN did not change. It simply stopped carrying an ordinary word-name on the company register.
That distinction matters, because an ACN identifies the legal company for its entire life. A business or franchise name does not.
The Raine & Horne names now sit across three companies
The Australian Business Register currently records:

So the company facing the tax application still holds Raine & Horne Bowral and Raine & Horne Rural Southern Highlands. But Raine & Horne Southern Highlands now sits on RHSH Pty Ltd, ACN 166 217 867.
RHSH and Mittagong RE Sales Pty Ltd, ACN 166 217 858, are separate registered companies. Neither appears in any insolvency notice across the 981 captured days.
There is another connection. RHSH, Mittagong RE Sales and Highlands RE Management Pty Ltd, ACN 166 217 849, were all incorporated on the same day in October 2013, and their ACNs were issued in sequence: 166 217 849, 166 217 858, 166 217 867. Three separate companies, registered one after another.
NSW Fair Trading gives a third answer
The property licence register does not follow the current ASIC name.
Corporation licence 1501216 is recorded against ACN 129 296 475, but the licensee is still named Anstee Real Estate Pty Ltd. The licence is current until 10 March 2027. Its recorded business names include Raine & Horne Southern Highlands and Raine & Horne Bowral.
That creates the contradiction. The Australian Business Register says Raine & Horne Southern Highlands has been held by RHSH Pty Ltd since May. NSW Fair Trading still records it against the property licence of ACN 129 296 475.
The Fair Trading record shows no listed compliance or disciplinary action against the licence.
That is the finding.
The companies were connected before 2026
It would be easy to look at the April name change, the May business-name change and the August tax application and tell a story about a business being moved.
The licence history argues against doing that.
NSW Fair Trading records RHSH Pty Ltd as a partner on the Anstee Real Estate licence from 17 July 2023, and Highlands RE Management Pty Ltd as a partner from 29 November 2024. RHSH also holds its own corporation property licence, 10020031, current until March 2027. Both licences record premises at 28 Wingecarribee Street, Bowral.
So the corporate association did not begin when the company names changed in 2026. It was already on the property register years earlier.
Nothing on the company, business-name or licence registers proves that a business, rent roll, employee, contract, listing or trust account was transferred in 2026.
We checked whether moving a Raine & Horne name was unusual
It is not.
Tonbar Investments Pty Ltd, incorporated in 1971, carried RAINE & HORNE-BOWRAL from March 2000 until February 2009.
Foxgrove Pty Ltd held RAINE & HORNE MOSS VALE from April 2001 until December 2013. Foxgrove is still registered, and the Business Register now records it under First National Real Estate Moss Vale.
Raine & Horne names in this district have passed between legal entities for at least twenty-five years, and at least one former holder simply changed franchise and carried on.
So the fact that Raine & Horne Southern Highlands moved from one company record to another is not evidence of financial distress, asset movement or avoidance. That explanation does not survive the historical check.
What survives is narrower, and more useful.
What the records actually establish

The records do not establish why the company changed its name. They do not establish that anything was transferred between the companies. They do not establish that the Fair Trading record is wrong rather than simply lagging another register. They do not establish any involvement by Raine & Horne's national franchisor in the application. And they do not establish that a person dealing with another Raine & Horne company in the Southern Highlands is a creditor of A.C.N. 129 296 475 Pty Ltd.
Why this matters if money is at stake
A creditor searching Anstee Real Estate meets a company name that no longer exists on ASIC's register. Someone searching Raine & Horne Southern Highlands meets RHSH Pty Ltd instead. Neither search necessarily reaches the company named in the Federal Court application.
The reliable identifier is ACN 129 296 475.
